Mirror Bacteria: Should We Build Life in Reverse?

All life on Earth follows one hidden rule: proteins are built from left-handed amino acids, and DNA and RNA from right-handed sugars. Mirror life would flip that rule.

In December 2024, 38 scientists warned in the journal Science that mirror bacteria should not be created without clear proof of safety. This short Bichitro Biggan video explains why: what chirality is, what a mirror bacterium would be, and why our immune system, and the microbes that clean up nature, might not recognise it.
